Before Mark Ruffalo played Bruce Banner / The Hulk in the 2012 “Avengers” movie for Marvel, there had been 2 separate attempts from the studio to get the story of the green rage monster on the big screen: “The Hulk” in 2003 and “The Incredible Hulk” in 2008.
Neither was a real success, but the former, directed by the famous Ang Lee and starring Eric Bana, was so notoriously bad that not even Marvel wants to acknowledge it these days.
This Friday, on May 1, the studio releases the second installment in the “Avengers” franchise, “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” Prepare to meet The Hulk again by revisiting the first, ill-advised attempt to bring him to the big screen, thanks to videos from Cinema Sins and Screen Junkies.
Embedded below is Everything Wrong with… in 14 Minutes or Less and the Honest Trailer for “The Hulk,” both stressing that this was a movie that was a waste of money on Marvel’s part and of time on the fans’.
The fact that it had such a solid cast made the effort seem even more disappointing.
So, before The Hulk was an Avenger fighting to protect the world, he was a boring scientist who used to fight Hulk Dogs and the incompetent US Army. The Honest Trailer says this is the most boring superhero movie ever made, while Cinema Sins counts a total of 131 Sins, which earns it the sentence “Digital Dog Testicle Creation.”
Enjoy!
