“Game of Thrones” returns to the small screen on HBO with a fifth season in the spring of 2015, so for fans of the series who feel like they simply can’t last this long without anything “Game of Thrones”-related, we have a little something that could help them relive some of that magic.

The hit show is being filmed in some of the most beautiful locations on earth, including Northern Ireland, Malta, Croatia, Iceland, Morocco, and Los Angeles but, clearly, it would not look as great as it does without the excellent work of the team altering shot footage in post-production.

The VFX reel below shows how the wonderful universe in “Game of Thrones” is being created with the help of a computer and a bunch of very talented people who really know their stuff. It’s magic!

These are just the scenes on which Mackevision worked – and it’s not the only VFX studio working on the show. This should give you an idea of just how “fake” “Game of Thrones” really is.

Everything from ships to mountains, armies, dragons (of course!), castles, and cities, is digitally altered. As fans probably know, sometimes, even death scenes are done in GCI instead of in the old traditional way, with makeup and prosthetics.

Enjoy!
