Unless you’ve been living under a rock or in some remote part of the world with no Internet access, you must be familiar with one of the year’s biggest music hits, Lil Jon’s collaboration with DJ Snake, “Turn Down for What” and some of its most popular parodies and covers.

However, if you’ve never heard the original, you can check it out now, in the first of the 3 videos embedded below. We need some context for today’s Viral of the Day with Michelle Obama, I should add.

In the most recent #AskTheFirstLady segment, actor, comedian, and famous Barack Obama-impersonator Iman Crosson, known as Alphacat, reached out to the First Lady, the real one, asking her how many calories she burned every time she “turned up.”

Some women would have been offended by the question and most would have probably refused to answer it, but not Mrs. Obama. Not the kind to miss an opportunity to send the message across of the importance of healthy living, the First Lady made a 6-second video in which she created a pun for “turn up.”

“Hey, Alphacat . The First Lady wants to know… #TurnipForWhat ?” she wrote in the caption of the Vine. Both these Vines, by the way, are available below.

So that’s all it took for the First Lady to make Internet history. Her Vine has gone viral and has brought to attention again her Let’s Move campaign, which she started in a bid to tackle the urgent problem of childhood obesity. And all she had to do was dance around with a turnip.

Barack Obama may have his flaws as President (you be the judge of that, we’re not about to go into politics), but what Mrs. Obama is doing with her efforts to promote healthy living is admirable. And it’s not less so even if you think (as I did) that this whole exchange of Vines was staged in advance.
