14 DAY TRIAL // Towards the end of last week, the Stockton Police Department in California, US, made the fortunate mistake of posting the mugshot of a 30-year-old criminal by the name Jeremy Meeks on its official Facebook page.
Fast forward a few days, and the mugshot now sports over 95,000 likes, nearly 12,500 shares, and 25,600 comments. Simply put, the mugshot has become a viral sensation.
What sparked people's interest in this one mugshot is the fact that the Jemery Meeks is nothing short of handsome. Thus, it's his cheek bones, his blue eyes, and his jawline that are now making rounds on the Internet.
According to Buzzfeed, several of the 30-year-old criminal's fans have even gone as far as to create memes based on the mugshot shared by the Stockton Police Department, some of which are available below.
Besides, Jeremy Meeks has even been photoshopped into fashion ads. Criminal record aside, one has to admit that this 30-year-old law-breaker makes a great Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss, or Givenchy model.
What's interesting is that, by the looks of it, the folks behind some of the photoshopped fashion ads have even taken the time to remove the criminal's tattoos, most likely looking to make sure Jeremy Meeks' face and torso would live up to the name of the brands.
The bad news is that, as many fans as this handsome criminal might have among members of the online community, it will probably be a while until anyone gets to see him walking up and down a runway. Unless they start organizing fashion shows in prison, that is.
As previously reported, 30-year-old Jeremy Meeks was charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, carrying a firearm in public, and engaging in criminal street gang activity. Hence, he will probably spend some time behind bars.
Shortly after Jeremy Meeks' arrest and his mugshot's going viral, his mother and sister agreed to sit for an interview with the press, and said that, although it was true that the 30-year-old man was at one point a gang member, that was no longer the case.
On the contrary, mother Katherine Angier said that Jeremy Meeks was at that moment a practicing Christian, and even had a little boy with his wife of four years. According to Katherine Angier, the only reason why the 30-year-old still carried a gun with him in public was because he was afraid for his own life.
The 30-year-old handsome criminal is presently held on $900,000 (€661,303) bail. His family is trying to raise the money needed to free him, be it only until trial, but, by the looks of it, Jeremy Meeks is not good-looking enough for people to donate and help get him out of jail.
