Capcom isn't fond of seeing Chun Li or Ryu decapitated at the end of matches

Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter has been a fighting game crossover wish from many fans for tens of years but it seems that the violent fatalities that are the trademark of the Mortal Kombat franchise are too much for Capcom, the owner of the Street Fighter series.

For decades, two major fighting game franchises have waged war in arcades and, in more recent times, on different consoles and on the PC, in the form of Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter.

Both series, particularly Capcom's Street Fighter, are well known for creating crossovers with other franchises, such as Tekken, or universes like Marvel.

However, as of yet, there hasn't been a Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter and, according to MK co-creator Ed Boon, such a thing won't happen.

Apparently, in an interview with Metro Game Central, the famous developer said that talks had been made with Capcom about such a crossover but the violent fatalities that are the trademark of the Mortal Kombat series aren't a good fit for the less violent Street Fighter, at least according to Capcom.

Apparently, the Japanese company wasn't so glad to hear about possible decapitations or other gory deaths for its beloved characters like Chun Li or Ryu.

As such, don't expect to see a Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter anytime soon, or at least not with the fatalities that made MK so popular.
