There’s a brand new flavor of the Vine application available for download for the owners of Android-based devices out there, namely version 1.4.5.

The main enhancement that the new application release arrives with is the added support for devices running under the Android 2.3 Gingerbread version of Google’s platform.

Basically, this means that millions of Android users out there can now download the application and install it on their devices.

However, it should be noted right from the start that the mobile client will only enable owners of Gingerbread-based smartphones and tablets to view vines.

“Please note that due to device limitations, this version of Vine doesn’t allow for video creation. However, there are tons of great Vine videos to entertain you. We hope you enjoy watching,” Edison Wang, engineer, Vine, notes in a blog post.

Despite the fact that there’s no video sharing available for Android 2.3 devices, users will still be able to watch content coming from other people, keep an eye on channels they like the most, and the like.

“From the Explore tab, you can find popular posts, see trending tags and browse channels to watch videos sorted by categories such as comedy, nature and sports,” the aforementioned blog post continues.

“As you find posts you enjoy –– maybe this one of penguins in Antarctica or this one of a never ending roller coaster catches your eye –– you can revine the post to share it with people who are following you.”

In addition to this major enhancement, the updated Vine for Android doesn't bring novelties, but does build on the enhancements that have been delivered to supported devices in the previous release, including translations for over 20 languages.

Moreover, the software packs a series of improvements to paging comments, as well as a series of other bug fixes and enhancements.
