Paul Walker was killed in a one-vehicle car crash in November 2013, during a break from shooting “Furious 7,” the 7th installment in the “Fast & Furious” franchise. The studio briefly considered the possibility of pulling the plug on the movie, since Walker had been at the core of it since day 1 and he was yet to finish shooting key scenes.

In the end, it was decided that the film would be released, and moreover, that the franchise would continue despite the tragedy. Fans will get the chance to see Walker in his final role starting April 3, as “Furious 7” opens wide in most territories.

The film screened at the SXSW film festival a few days ago, and reactions to it have been mostly positive, promising the most insane ride in the franchise and a goodbye for Walker worthy of his status as a leading action man.

At a recent screening for the film, Vin Diesel showed up and spoke about how difficult it was for him to get back on set after losing Paul. They were never just co-stars or mere acquaintances: as Diesel puts it in the video below, when Walker died, he lost his brother and his best friend.

Diesel got choked up completely after saying this, and struggled to gain enough composure to continue speaking on what is clearly still a very painful topic for him. He couldn’t - but his fans in the audience helped him through the moment by letting him know just how much they love him.
