The popular, on-demand video streaming service Vimeo has been enhanced on iPhone and iPad platforms via an update to the dedicated iOS client that brings high quality HD video content based on the user’s networks settings and device capabilities.

When you load up a video on Vimeo, video quality now automatically adapts based on your network connection and device, “potentially delivering high quality HD video content (720p and 1080p) depending on device and network capabilities,” says Vimeo.

In other words, if you’re rocking a third-gen Retina display iPad on a strong WiFi connection, Vimeo will deliver the best version of any video you’re trying to watch. Those that are available at 1080p will simply look stunning on the tablet’s 9.7-inch Retina display.

Other changes include: more reliable video playback and buffering; optimized video streaming for faster and higher quality startups; updated Help section; renamed "Subscriptions" to "My Feed;" account screen fixes; reduced application size.

“We packed all the best parts of Vimeo into one simple app, and now we've made that app better than ever,” says the team at Vimeo headquartered in New York City. “Upload, edit, manage, and watch your videos right on your iPhone, and, if you need inspiration, discover great videos based on your interests through our meticulously curated and eyeball-pleasing Channels.”

“Vimeo is simply the best way to get your videos online in high quality, and with powerful tools to help you share publicly or privately,” adds the company founded by Jake Lodwick and Zach Klein in November 2004.

The Vimeo iOS client also boasts a simple editor that allows you to capture video with focus control and grid alignment, combine, edit, and trim your videos, add transitions, titles, and effects, as well as add music and sound recordings and send the content to Vimeo instantly.
