Vimeo is launching a new feature that will allow video uploaders to create a monthly, on-demand video subscription plan. The feature is automatically available for all Pro accounts and no extra criteria needs to be met.

This recent update comes to complete Vimeo's current monetization plans, which rely on as few ads as possible, using Pro accounts and pay-per-view like options instead.

Two years after launching the on-demand video feature that allowed content owners to charge viewers a one-time fee before viewing their videos, this latest update could make Vimeo the go-to solution for podcasters, amateur film makers, tutorial hubs, and even professional TV and movie studios.

Allowing content owners to charge for monthly fees as an alternative to video-based prices allows them to stabilize their income, a feature that can be very useful for smaller companies and freelancers that need reliable financial streams when starting out.

What are video uploaders getting with this new feature?

Vimeo's offering feature-wise ain't that bad at all, the company taking only 10% off all monthly subscriptions while offering quite a slew of channel administration options at the same time.

Content owners will be in full control over how much they charge, they'll be able to offer free videos, trial subscriptions, promo codes, discounts, and bonus clips, and also controlling in what regions of the globe his content will be available.

Control over the Vimeo page is also enhanced, with options for adding background images, posters for movie releases, captions and/or subtitles for international content, and also customizing the Vimeo player's graphics.

An analytics dashboard is additionally provided for understanding how videos are viewed and from where subscriptions are coming, users being able to purchase access from both mobile and desktop devices.

Last but not least, video uploaders will need a PayPal account as well, just in case they'll want to receive the money from Vimeo at any point.
