Slowly but surely, Dropbox is branching out beyond the cloud sync/cloud storage market and is morphing into a pure cloud product. It's got a long way to go and it may never become a 100 percent pure web platform, but that's the direction.
For example, Vimeo has just announced that it has added support for direct Dropbox uploads.
What this means is that Vimeo users can now upload videos straight to Vimeo via Dropbox.
More specifically, any video they place in the "Vimeo" folder inside the Dropbox folder, after they link the two sites, will be automatically uploaded and made available on the video site.
"Integration within Dropbox is something our community wanted for a while," said Vimeo CEO Kerry Trainor.
"This is another tool for them to upload and share their videos with friends and family, or the rest of the world." Users can find the option to enable Dropbox in the upload
section of Vimeo.
