Vimeo, the video sharing site that, while definitely not as large as YouTube – nothing is – occupies a special place in the landscape, is now finally going international with the addition of a French and German language version.

You should be getting the French or German version of the site if that's the default language set in your browser; otherwise, you can go to your account settings and change it.

There's also a language selector at the bottom of every Vimeo page. The site had already been available in Spanish, apart from English of course.

"Great news! Bonnes nouvelles! Gute nachrichten! Le Vimeo is l'debuting in l'French und der German," Vimeo announced. Vimeo employed its community for the translations, as is the norm for most large websites these days.

There's no word on other languages, but if enough people request it and, more importantly, enough people get involved to provide the translations, more should be coming.
