At his point, after so many highly anticipated products were delayed repeatedly, including Apple's iPad and NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 480 graphics cards, consumers are quite unlikely to be surprised when hearing that yet another upcoming device has been unexpectedly delayed. In this case, they may or may not be heartbroken to learn that Dynamism will not be able to ship the Viliv S10 convertible notebook on time, which means that those who pre-ordered it will have to wait a couple more weeks.

Convertible mobile PCs are known for their ability to flip and bend into a tablet-shaped device and back into a keyboard-using laptop at the user's whim. The Viliv S10 Blade was introduced some time ago but, curiously, it was not among the Viliv devices that started selling last month. Engadget now explains that, according to an e-mail sent by Dynamism to an end-user that had ordered the device, the S10 blade has been “delayed by the factory.” No details are given on the exact nature of the issues that caused the setback, unfortunately.

For consumers interested in a reminder, the Viliv S10 Blade is a 10.1-inch portable PC weighing 1.21kg and powered by a 1.6 GHz Atom Z530 or 2.0 GHz Z550 central processing unit. The processor is backed up by 1GB of RAM and a storage space of either 60GB (HDD) or 32GB (SSD). Furthermore, the laptop boasts a 3-point resistive touchscreen display (with a maximum resolution of 1366 x 768), integrated graphics, a SDHC memory card slot and a built-in webcam. As for connectivity, the laptop comes with WiFi and Bluetooth 2.0.

The Viliv S10 blade is pre-loaded with the Windows XP or the Windows 7 home Premium Operating System and fueled by a battery that enables it to function for up to 10 hours without requiring a recharge. Unless any other unexpected situation arises, the $699 machine should start shipping by next week or the beginning of May, depending on the model.
