Viggle, a Function(x) company, today announced its first free app for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch. Using a proprietary show matching feature, it rewards people with gift cards, movie tickets, music and more for checking into TV shows.
Viggle allows its partners (the content providers) to reach different demographics and present their brands in contextually relevant ways. This can mean anything from games, quizzes and polls, to downloads and videos that are related to the consumers and what they’re watching.
Currently, Viggle handles live, recorded and online TV content from more than 150 channels, but more is added daily, according to the developers.
The app uses the integrated microphone of the iDevice to determine what the viewer is watching on television.

Viggle requires iOS 4.0 or later and works with most iDevices.
