The new VX line of LCDs is arriving

Viewsonic just announced three new LCD displays that target the 19-inch to 23-inch market, with all products being priced quite reasonable. Viewsonic's VX1935wm, VX2035vm and VX223vm are the three new contenders, ranging from 19-inches to 22-inches. The screens are aimed at the gaming and video users' segment but Viewsonic claims they can also be used in the business segment since they offer quite a rich color spectrum combined with a low latency (5ns).

VX2035vm and VX2235vm come with a native resolution of 1680x1050 and have a brightness of 300nits and 280nits respectively. VX2235vm comes with a contrast ratio of 700:1 while its little brother has a higher contrast of 800:1. As for the 19-inch VX1935wm, it comes with a smaller 1440x900 native resolution; the brightness is 300 nits while the contrast ratio is 700:1.

Viewsonic generally rolls out very competitive products especially when regarding performance. And these LCDs are no unpleasant surprise. As a matter of fact, they integrate quite well among other products from the manufacturer. I'd like to point out the fact that VX2235vm offers a lower resolution than it should for its dimensions (most 22"-23" LCDs have a native resolution of 1920x1200). While this might prove to be a drawback for some power users, older people will be delighted by a lower resolution (which translated into larger icons and fonts).

"All three displays offer more screen real-estate, helping business users increase productivity by managing multiple documents at once and providing gamers with more room to roam their richly detailed in-game surroundings or toggle on-screen menus. The VX2235wm, VX2035wm and VX1935wm also feature a newly designed thin bezel with integrated full-sound stereo speakers and power supply, helping users keep their desktops free of cable clutter," says Viewsonic.
