Unveiled back in October, ViewSonic’s ViewPad 7e has just been introduced in India. Although the tablet has yet to hit shelves at leading retailers across the country, we can expect it to be available at a very aggressive price point.

According to the folks over at AndroidOS, the ViewPad 7e will soon be available for purchase for only Rs 13,000 (265 USD or 200 EUR). Unfortunately, this is highly overpriced, as the handset manufacturer initially announced that the slate will be priced for under $200 (150 EUR).

It will be interesting to see how this 7-inch slate will fair against its competitors, such as the Huawei MediaPad. Probably not that good, especially that ViewSonic’s tablet runs Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform.

However, ViewSonic thought it would be wise to offer its own ViewScene 3D interface, which apparently delivers a more intuitive home screen layout with holographic visual effects, unlike Android stock UI which is pretty dull.

According to ViewSonic, the ViewPad 7e “is great for web surfing, e-reading, social networking, handheld gaming and multimedia entertainment.”

Even though the tablet does not provide access to Android Market, users will be able to take advantage of thousands of third-party apps via Amazon Appstore (US only) and 1Mobile Market

Hardware-wise, ViewPad 7e is equipped with a single core ARM A8 processor clocked at 1 GHz and packs 4GB of internal memory 512 MB of RAM, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

In addition, the slate sports dual cameras (3-megapixel rear camera and VGA front-facing camera), microHDMI port, as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support.

ViewPad 7e delivers a powerful entertainment experience at an affordable price. It’s the newest addition to our ViewPad tablet series, which are equipped with the latest high-performance technologies,” said Ajay Sharma, country manager, ViewSonic Technologies India.
