ViewSonic has just released an IPS panel that is easily one of the most affordable displays in its size class, even while using LED backlighting.

For all those customers that want to buy a display but aren't interested in design embellishments and whatnot, ViewSOnic has introduced the VX2336s-LED.

As the name implies, it measures 23 inches in diagonal and is more or less average, no matter how one looks at it.

The LCD has the now regular Full HD resolution (1,920 x 1,080 pixels), a DVI and D-sub connector and a rectangular stand with just 20 to -5 degrees tilt.

There are just two things that can be said to stand out from all other specifications on the list.

One is the SuperClear technology, which enables viewing angles of 178 degrees, both vertically and horizontally. SuperClear also enhances grey levels and makes black colors sharper, among other things.

The other asset that arguably stands out is the maximum contrast ratio of 20,000,000:1, even though the typical ratio is 1,000:1.

Furthermore, the LED backlighting, with its lower power draw, allows the whole thing to operate on 35W, but as low as 21W in Eco mode.

The rest of the spec sheet is made up of a DVI and D-sub connector, a brightness of 250 cd/m2 and a decent response time of 6ms GTG (grey to grey) and 14ms BW (black to white to black).

Finally, the VX2336s-LED boasts automatic aspect ratio adjustment for 4:3 signals and does not put too much effort into being overly thin, even possessing an internal power supply.

ViewSonic already has the newcomer up for order at a price of $225, which corresponds to 171 Euro. As such, prospective buyers can be completely at ease, as this is a fairly low figure, among the lowest that IPS panels are sold for, actually.
