Supports 3D

Anyone that has been watching or, in this case, reading, the news, knows by now that 3D technology has been growing in popularity at a significantly rapid pace over the past year. Even at the 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show, 3D was one, if not the main topic. Since 3D television broadcasts are already in the works and Hollywood is already set to launch more and more movies in this display format, hardware makers are already on their way supplying the market with means of viewing such content. ViewSonic is one such hardware maker and is set to introduce a 23.6-inch 3D display during the second quarter.

Consumers know by now that the main trait of a 3D monitor is its ability to reach a refresh rate of 120 Hz, as 3D images rely on outputting two individual sets of images, one for each eye. Thus, the refresh rate will be divided among those two sets, with a 60 Hz refresh rate for each.

The upcoming product from ViewSonic, obviously, does this, even while being 23.6 inch in size. It uses the liquid crystal display technology for an excellent image quality and color sharpness, whereas LED backlighting is employed for a high brightness and energy efficiency. In addition, the display will support the 1920 x 1080-pixel resolution and will have a high contrast.

For connectivity capabilities, ViewSonic is designing its V3D241wm-LED 3D monitor with a D-Sub connector, a DVI port and an HDMI for input. This will ensure the display's wide compatibility, thus making it a strong candidate on the 3D panel market.

Of course, since 3D technology has not yet progressed that far, consumers will still need to wear the special glasses when viewing 3D content. The ViewSonic V3D241wm-LED is on track for release sometime during the second quarter of the ongoing year, most likely in April. Unfortunately, at this time, there is no information on the price tag that this product will carry.
