Well-known monitor manufacturer ViewSonic is getting ready to present the professional computer display market with a new 27” model featuring the less popular WQHD high-definition resolution. WQHD is short for “Wide Quad High Definition” and it’s a standard discussed by the ATSC back in the 90s.

The “Wide Quad High Definition” format is a display resolution comprised of 2560 by 1440 pixels in a 16:9 screen format.

The standard features exactly four times the pixels contained in a 720p frame.

The new model is reportedly designated VP2770-LED and it will likely replace the current VP2765-LED model in the company’s lineup.

ViewSonic’s new WQHD 27” display comes with a Super IPS LCD panel that touts much better viewing angles and color reproduction when compared with popular TN panels.

On top of the impressive resolution it can display, the VP2770-LED also has 10-bits per pixel color rate and the number of possible displayed colors surpasses 1 billion.

The monitor will also feature a USB hub that will come with two USB 3.0 ports and two USB 2.0 connectors.

The price has not been made available yet, but the monitor should come to the market in the following months.
