Not willing to go to much time without some new product release, ViewSonic stepped forward to launch a new 3D panel with full HD support and a high contrast ratio.

The new display that ViewSonic released was sent to North America and is bundled with a pair of polarized 3D glasses.

It goes by the name of V3D231 and, as some may or may not have guesses from that name alone, boasts a size of 23 inches in diagonal.

This means that it is aimed at the upper half of the mainstream market, or the upper quarter, since mainstream users aren't known for their ownership of 3D, not yet at least.

For those who want the specifications, the panel has more or less the same capabilities as any 23-inch panel, plus the obligatory ability to render streams in 3D mode.

In other words, it can simultaneously render two sets of images, one for the right eye and the other for the left, leaving it up to the aforementioned glasses to synchronize them.

The resolution is, obviously, 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, since this wouldn't be called a Full HD monitor otherwise.

Additionally, the dynamic contrast ratio is of 20,000,000:1, while the response time is of 2ms.

The reason the panel even reaches this response time is the fact that the company threw in the ClearMotiv II technology.

Other features include a pair of 2W speakers, a typical brightness of 250 cd/m2 and viewing angles of 170 degrees horizontal and 160 vertical.

Finally, for actual communication with a PC, or whatever else, there is HDMI 1.4 in addition to DVI and D-Sub outputs.

Users from North America will be able to buy this thing starting now, as long as they are willing to part with $349 (254.20 Euro, based on exchange rates). Meanwhile, the product page is here.
