Although Google has yet to make Honeycomb working correctly on 7-inch tablets, ViewSonic decided to launch a new 7-inch tablet, the ViewBook 730.
The device is delivered with Android 2.2 (Froyo) on board, which makes things even worse for Android fans who were expecting for an immersive Android experience.
According to the manufacturer, the
ViewBook 730 will be available on the market by the end of June for only $249.99.
The tablet is equipped with a single core ARM Cortex-A8 1Ghz processor, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as a front-facing VGA camera.
The 7-inch LCD touch screen supports 800 x 480 pixels resolutions touch and is based on the company's RiteTouch technology, which makes it perfect for pen writing.
It comes with a pre-installed Sketcher note-taking application that allows users to take notes, highlight excerpts within a novel or textbook, or work on art projects, while using the included stylus.
“
In the tablet marketplace, there are plenty of solutions to choose from. We recognized a need for a tablet device that offers users an excellent multimedia experience with a very affordable value proposition,” said Michael Holstein, vice president of business development, ViewSonic.
The tablet is fully integrated with the
Amazon Appstore, and comes bundled with some of the most popular apps such as: Twitter, Amazon’s MP3 music downloader, shopping on Amazon.com, YouTube, Mediafly, as well as Amazon Kindle software for eBook reading.
Other highlights of ViewBook 730 include 8GB of internal memory, 512 MB RAM, microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).
“
From the pre-installed Amazon Kindle eReader to full Amazon app integration and Flash 10.1 support, our new ViewBook 730 enables consumers to do all the fun things that they want to do on a tablet without the added cost for features they don’t need,” concluded Holstein.
The device is powered by a 5000mAH Li-Polymer battery that should last up to 8 hours of use per charge.
