It will be followed, eventually, by a 22-inch version

ViewSonic continues to design and build various PC monitors and TVs. The latest is described as optimal for all sorts of consumers, due to a good combination of environment friendliness and price-performance ratio.

Like basically every new monitor announced nowadays, except for a random few, the newcomer features the 16:9 aspect ratio and the Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels).

Another “common” trait is the LED backlighting technology, while a third is the relatively standard input support (including DVI, HDMI, VGA).

That's about it for the “normal” stuff though. Everything else fits ViewSonic's idea of professional grade monitor that is also suitable to gamers, media watchers and regular consumers.

"Our new VX70Smh-LED Series offers the best combination of performance and features in the industry, and we've sweetened the deal by packaging it up in a beautiful frameless bezel design," said Erik Willey, LCD monitor and PC product marketing director at ViewSonic.

"Available in a range of sizes, these displays are ideal for consumers, gamers and multimedia enthusiasts alike."

You'll notice that the “frameless bezel design” doesn't actually mean there is no bezel. It is really thin though.

And now we may as well list the good stuff. For one, the MEGA Dynamic Contrast Ratio is of 30,000,000:1.

Secondly, since the 27-inch monitor uses a SuperClear IPS panel (the one component that is “professional-grade”), the viewing angles are very wide (178 degrees).

Another important detail is the SRS Premium Surround Sound (speakers mounted in the base). The list goes on with an externally mounted power supply and the Eco mode that can cut power use by up to 40% compared other 27-inch displays.

ViewSonic VX2770Smh-LED will sell this month (October 2012), for $319 / 247-319 Euro. A 23-inch display is priced at $189 / 146-189 Euro and a 22-inch (only available from December) will ship for $159 / 123-159 Euro.
