ViewSonic, one of the worldwide leaders in display technologies, has demonstrated its first 120Hz desktop LCD technology at NVIDIA's NVISION 08 event, which is currently taking place in San Jose, California. The new 22-inch 120Hz prototype has been designed to deliver rich, colorful, blur-free video performance for a number of applications, including traditional gaming, entertainment and graphics applications.

As mentioned before, a number of companies have jumped at the opportunity of participating in NVIDIA's NVISION event, in order to announce a couple of new products and technologies of their own. Following Zotac's introduction of the GeForce hardware overclocking device, dubbed NITRO, ViewSonic has announced its new VX2265wm 22-inch prototype with Professional Color certification, designed to minimize ghosting and blur.

"ViewSonic continues to deliver innovative technology that leads and supports the growing trends and demands in digital entertainment," said Jeff Volpe, vice president of Global Brand and Emerging Technologies, ViewSonic. "The 120Hz technology will deliver superb front-of-screen performance and will drive new standards in desktop entertainment igniting the next evolution in digital viewing capabilities."

The 22-inch 120Hz display features a 3ms gray-to-gray response time that ultimately improves the MPRT (Motion Picture Response Time), compared with typical "fast-response" displays currently available on the market. Furthermore, ViewSonic's new LCD also sports two built-in 2W stereo speakers and a Dual Link DVI digital input. Capable of outputting a maximum resolution of 1680 by 1050 pixels, the new 22-inch LCD from ViewSonic can prove an ideal choice for extreme gaming, entertainment, computer animation and other traditional computer applications. Other technical specifications include a 1000:1 contrast ratio and 300 nits of high brightness.

ViewSonic's first displays with 120Hz technology are scheduled to arrive at select resellers, retailers and etailers later this year. Unfortunately, the company has failed to specify any details regarding pricing.
