The azzuri fans are definitely having a bad day today. Why? Because one of their most prolific strikers of all time, Cristian Vieri, will miss the World Cup in Germany this summer. The news came through AS Monaco officials, where Vieri has played for the last year. After scoring goals for the best Italian teams (Inter, AC Milan, Juventus, Lazio) and playing in the best leagues in Europe (France, Germany, Italy), Vieri will have to just sit and watch how Italy are trying to conquer a new WC title.

The news certainly hammered Vieri, who hasn't played in Ligue 1 for almost 2 months, after he got injured against PSG in late March. He will have to overcome a knee injury and watch the World Cup on TV.

March was not a very good month for the Italian football fans. First, they had to watch their main playmaker suffer a terrible injury with his team AS Roma. The World Cup seemed just a dream for Totti too a couple of months ago, but the Italian doctors thought differently. With lots of efforts, Totti was recuperated and will play in Germany. For Vieri though, Germany will certainly not be on his travel plans for the summer, since he has to start recuperating for the next season.
