Hail the new Vienna Symphonic Library Special Edition

Those of you who are a bit deeper into serious music creation surely know the Vienna Symphonic Library: it's one of the world's finest and classy suites of instruments imaginable, the dream of any composer and a delight for the listener at the same time. It's now a happy hour to welcome the release of the Special Edition of the VSL. The samples are by far the utmost collection someone might want to control and use to eternal musical glory, no matter if you're looking for some violins in a hip-hop mix or for shivering, hair-raising orchestrations for the planet's premiere motion pictures.

The new Vienna Symphonic Library come in three different flavors: Standard, Extended and Full. According to the producer, theStandard collections will offer you an amount of 28 instruments and ensembles covering large post-romantic instrumentation. It contains solo and ensemble strings, solo instruments and ensembles of the brass section, woodwinds ranging from piccolo flute to contra bassoon, harp, drums and percussion as well as celesta and the B?sendorfer Imperial grand piano.

35 additional instruments will be at your fingertips in the Extended version of the VSL and everything in there supports Legato Performance, and other characteristics the producers of the Vienna Symphonic Library have gotten us used to lately: basic articulations, real note transitions one octave wide being automatically played as legato notes are played.

Everything is 24-bit, 44,1 Hz on the 4 DVDs the VSL comes on and the Full version comprises the Standard plus the Extended, around 75,000 samples in 80 GB. The VSL will run as VST or AU (AudioUnits) or in the Vienna Instruments standalone mode. Pricing is $445 for the Standard, $595 for the extended and $1,040 fro the Full collection.

According to Vienna Instruments, the collection will run in good conditions on systems in the following configurations:
