Now that Nokia World has closed its gates, we should have a closer look at what was announced there, and the Nokia E7, the first Eseries device to run under the new Symbian^3 platform seems like a good place to start.

According to the Finnish mobile phone maker, the new device comes to the market as a next-generation business smartphone.

Undoubtedly, it can easily prove so, since it comes with a 4-inch AMOLED touchscreen display, that boasts a 640 x 360 pixels resolution, as well as with a side-sliding QWERTY keyboard.

The specifications list of this device include 350 MB of internal memory, complemented by 16GB mass memory, along with 256MB of RAM and 1024 MB of ROM.

The new Nokia E7 sports an 8-megapixel photo snapper with HD 720p video recording capabilities and dual led flash.

Moreover, its multimedia capabilities expand with support for H.264, MPEG-4, VC-1, H.263, Real Video 10, ON2 VP6, Flash video and MP3, AAC, eAAC, eAAC+, WMA, AMR-WB- AMB-NB, DRM support WM DRM, OMA DRM 2.0.

The connectivity options of this handset include WLAN IEEE802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, HSDPA, Micro-USB 2.0, TV out, 3.5 mm headphone jack, as well as GPS, A-GPS, WLAN and Cell-ID positioning features.

The mobile phone packs a 1200mAh BL-4D battery that can offer up to 9 hours of talk time or up to 18 days of standby time on GSM networks, or 5 hours or 20 days on WCDMA.

Nokia announced that the new device should become available in a series of color versions, including Dark Grey, Silver White, Green, Blue, Orange, which can be seen in the photos below (the second row comes from My Nokia Blog).

According to Nokia, the smartphone also comes with business grade security features, including: - Device lock and wipe, secure intranet access and device management - More Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync policies supported than on most other smartphones - Higher security with Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync certificate based authentication - Cisco and Juniper SSL VPN support in addition to existing rich IPSec VPN compatibility - Rich OMA DM support with enforceable encryption and device controls including camera and bluetooth - F-Secure Anti-theft protection to remotely lock, wipe and locate misplaced devices
