Windows Phone 7, the latest mobile operating system iteration that Redmond-based software giant Microsoft launched on the market in October last year, is set to taste its first software update in a matter of weeks, and a video showing the impressive performance jump following that update has surfaced.

We already learned officially that the update is set to be released in the coming months, at least this being what Microsoft stated at CES, and that the software is listed on the company's website as the January update, and some more solid proof of the enhancements it should bring emerged.

The said video, spotted on Anandtech (via WMPoweruser), shows how a Windows Phone 7 device that tasted the update can launch applications much faster than a device without the update would.

The video was reportedly shot at CES last week, and compares a Samsung Taylor running Windows Phone 7 build 7.0.7353.0 against a retail device, which runs build 7.0.7004.0.

Apparently, the only performance aspects that the new software update for Windows Phone 7 addresses are related to application load times.

Of course, other optimizations were also included into the mix, though they are said to be only minor ones, and the changes might not be as visible as one would expect.

When it comes to the new features that the said software update would bring into the mix, support for copy and paste was said to be the most important of them.

Another important feature that Windows Phone 7 would receive would be support for CDMA connectivity, which would bring handsets running under it to Sprint and Verizon too.

All in all, it seems that Microsoft is set to deliver a better experience to its Windows Phone 7 users as soon as this software is released, though it remains to be seen when exactly that would happen.

Until an official announcement on this would be made, you should have a look at the video below to see how faster games would load on Windows Phone 7 following the update.
