Tom Hiddleston never made a secret of his initial hope of landing the part of Thor in Marvel’s franchise of the same name (and “The Avengers”), but it’s just now that fans get a first proper look at how he would have fared in the role that was eventually landed by Chris Hemsworth.

Marvel has released the video of Hiddleston’s screentest, for which he packed on 20 pounds (9.07 kg) of muscle mass and agreed to wear a blonde wig. You will find it embedded below.

Previously, fans had only been treated to two GIFs of the actor in character, but the video makes all the difference. It also shows that Tom was a much better choice as Loki because Chris has the physicality required to play Thor, whereas Tom brings his impressive range to the role of villain.

In the end, Marvel did the smart thing to pick him for Loki. Not only did the character turn out to be such a huge hit with fans that reshoots had to be done for “The Dark World,” the second installment, to allow him more screentime, but there’s even talk of him getting his own spinoff.

Wouldn’t that be great for Hiddleston?
