DROID X by Motorola has received a leaked Android 2.2 Froyo ROM

on Friday, and some enthusiasts already downloaded and installed it on their devices, just to see how the two get along ahead of the arrival of the official software from Verizon and Motorola.

Unfortunately, there is no telling on when the wireless carrier would start rolling-out the OS update, but some of the latest rumors on the matter suggest that this won't happen until next month.

Until then, one can learn a few more details on how DROID X looks like under Android 2.2 via the video embedded at the bottom of this article, courtesy of Android Central.

While there are no major UI changes to signal on the new OS version, user would still notice that the handset's lock screen looks different, and that some other small visual changes have been included into the equation.

Other than that, the leaked ROM is said to pack all of the enhancements Google announced for the new Android 2.2 Froyo OS version.

The Adobe Flash Player 10.1 is included into the package, something that many users have been certainly waiting for, as well as other improvements.

The new platform version also brings along a nice range of performance enhancements, and DROID X users would certainly enjoy having them on their devices.

Most of DROID X early adopters would most probably expect for the official software update to be released into the wild, but there are also some who will try the leaked solution.

Those interested in the leaked solution should head over to this post over at DROID X Forums to learn more on how to download it or on how to install it on their devices.

Both rooted and non-rooted DROID X handsets can install the solution, it seems, though it would probably be wise to expect for the official release to emerge, for it might not be too long before Verizon makes it available.
