It was created based on an interview with Neil DeGrasse Tyson

During an interview Time magazine conducted with American astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, a reader asked the scientist about what he finds to be the most astounding fact about the Universe. The video above was created to showcase his answer.

Right now, Tyson is the Frederick P. Rose Director of the Rose Center for Earth and Space's Hayden Planetarium, and also a research associate with the ANMH Department of Astrophysics.

What this video explains (with exquisite animations, I might add) is how each and every one of the atoms within our bodies comes in fact from the nuclei of stars that went supernova sometime in the distant cosmic past.

“For me, that is the most profound revelation of 20th century astrophysics and I look forward to what the 21st century will bring us, given the frontiers that are now unfolding,” Tyson says.
