A new version of Palm's webOS platform is expected to make an appearance into the wild in the near future, namely webOS 2.0, and some new info on the matter emerged, in the form of a video preview of the upcoming OS version.

The two-minute long video came from a developer who was kind enough to offer more people the possibility to take a look at the upcoming OS, and follows a series of leaked screenshots with the platform that emerged a while ago.

In all fairness, this is not a video of the operating system running on an actual device, but only an emulation video.

Even so, it still offers us a glimpse at what to expect from the webOS 2.0 platform as soon as it makes an appearance on devices on shelves.

One thing that is certain here is that the OS seems to be shaping up pretty nicely for the owners of a Palm device, something that was unveiled ever since it was officially announced a few weeks ago.

At that time, Palm said that the upcoming operating system version should bring forth a nice range of enhancements over current iterations of webOS, including many new features and performance improvements.

Better multi-tasking capabilities should be included into the mix, as well as better Universal Search, called Just Type, and a new feature, Quick Actions.

What still hasn't been officially announced is when the platform would start rolling-out for existing smartphones, though Palm promised it would make it available before the end of the ongoing year.

Of course, wireless carriers might not start pushing it out right away, for it usually takes some time before they approve OS updates and start pushing them out to customers.

Until more details on when the new webOS 2.0 would arrive are made official, one can have a look at the video below (available via Engadget) so as to make a better idea of how the OS would look like.
