Call of Duty: Black Ops has just received a few more details about the upcoming Annihilation DLC, including a video presentation as well as the fact that a double XP weekend will be deployed alongside the new map pack at the end of the month.

Call of Duty: Black Ops amazed the whole gaming industry with its popularity, so Treyarch, its developer, and Activision, its publisher are trying to squeeze more money through the release of multiple downloadable map packs.

Now, the third one, called Annihilation, was officially confirmed yesterday by the two companies, alongside the four multiplayer maps for the competitive mode, as well as the new scenario for the cooperative Zombies one.

In order to properly showcase the new maps included in this downloadable pack, Treyarch has released a video presentation, depicting the designs of the maps, as well as what unique features they will bring to the Black Ops experience.

“With Annihilation, Black Ops fans will get four exciting and unique multiplayer settings with Hangar 18, Drive-In, Silo and Hazard,” said Treyarch Studio Head, Mark Lamia.

“Players will also enjoy an all-new Zombies experience , Shangri-La, an exotic and mysterious map filled with deadly traps, dark secrets and innovative gameplay that will challenge even the most daring Zombie hunters.”

The studio also confirmed that the release of the Annihilation DLC for Call of Duty: Black Ops, on June 28 for the Xbox 360, will be accompanied by a double XP weekend, starting on Friday, July 1.

Two other map packs are still available for Black Ops, in the form of First Strike and Escalation, which were deployed earlier this year.

Annihilation is expected to appear for other platforms, including the PC or PlayStation 3 at the end of July or beginning of August, at least judging by the release schedule of previous Call of Duty DLC.
