Victoria Beckham admits she is still to get over the initial shock of the American Idol offer

Victoria Beckham has repeatedly insisted that she has given up the idea of pursuing a solo career because she realized she did not have what it takes to be a good singer. Yet that is not to say she doesn’t know what it takes to make a star, which is what American Idol is also about, and which is also the reason why she’s been asked to appear as a temp judge on the panel. Speaking to host Ryan Seacrest on KIIS FM a few hours ago, Posh has revealed she still hasn’t gotten over the initial jitters, as People can confirm.

What Posh most expects from the show is for Simon Cowell to give her a hard time, especially since he’s the only one to have turned down the Spice Girls and “said we would never work,” and to have the possibility to help someone, a special someone, fulfill their dreams of becoming a superstar. However, until she gets to enjoy either, she still has to come to grips with the reality of it all: having one of her most amazing dreams come to life.

“When I got the phone call, I just couldn’t believe it. I feel like I got the best job that there is. I’m still grinning from ear to ear.” Posh told Seacrest during the interview. Coming from someone who literally has built a reputation on her inability or unwillingness to smile, this counts for a lot, as Victoria herself is aware, possibly “ruining” her image for good. “I’m going to try hard to pout and not shatter the illusion that I’m a moody cow, but I don’t know if I can – I’m just so happy.” Posh jokes.

As for being a part of the wonderful American Idol “family,” Mrs. Beckham says she can hardly wait to get into a banter with Cowell, whose British sense of humor she highly appreciates because she can relate. However, more important than that is helping the contestants see their dreams come true, but only if they have the right “package,” as Victoria knows from experience that, in order to be successful, talent and a good singing voice are not enough because the attitude is also extremely important.

In the same interview, Posh vouches she will be a kind judge, just like Paula Abdul was. Asked whether she felt sorry for Abdul for leaving the immensely popular show, Victoria is honest: no. “I don’t. I’m a spiritual person and I believe that you get back what you put out there, and I hope she does something that is bigger and better… There’s something great for her around the corner, I’m sure. She’s great so she’s going to be good at whatever she does.” Victoria Beckham believes.
