Didn't you miss Victoria Beckham? I sure did. I've missed a little bit of "normal crazy" these days, with all the Brit Brit dramas going on. OK, maybe that needs further explaining. You see, in my humble opinion Victoria and her own particular brand of self-absorbed selfish media whoring are nothing out of the ordinary. She has simply picked up all the tips and tricks from people who played the game better and is now trying her best to promote herself and her "style queen" image. And it seems to be working. Well, blame the superficial consumerism of today's society for that - or don't blame anyone and think of Victoria as one, misunderstood victim of a society with not much fashion sense. But I somehow doubt it's the latter - and my money's on Victoria simply having a bit of an inferiority complex when it comes to her looks put next to her husband's glorified appearance.
But the fact remains, Victoria is constantly being panned as either a super style icon or a complete fashion disaster. Only a week ago, she was appointed worst-dressed female celebrity of 2007, and I don't think it was a title she received with
pride. I can't help myself thinking, though, why someone who wants to be taken seriously as a fashion icon would do a series of ads which - to me at least - have absolutely no aesthetic value? I know, I know - I'm just an ignorant person and I may not understand the finer aspects of true fashion, but could someone please tell me, what's fashionable about being photographed with a windmill-style antenna on top of your head or with your feet hanging out what seems to be a giant shopping bag?
I'm not so sure about the bag, but the shoes are absolutely hideous - and so is the rest of Victoria's light purple attire. But back to the giant bag - can someone who has grasped the concept please enlighten a lost soul? Because try as I might, I can't seem to find a reasonable explanation for this except that it's all one big fashion stunt meant to attract attention... and not much else besides that. But as I was saying, I may be wrong. Blind. Devoid of any and all fashion sense. Victoria is also set to appear on the cover of the British Vogue. "The magazine is planning to dedicate 12 pages to her. It's rare for Vogue to use someone other than a model for the cover, so it's a real coup for Victoria" said a source. Well, what can I say? The win goes to the lady with the purple dress and the fake tan... as always.
