It looks like Viber plans to bring voice calls to BlackBerry operating system. The new feature will not be available to BlackBerry 10 devices though, but we suspect support for newer smartphones will be added as well.

TechCrunch reports Viber has already pushed an update to version 2.4, which includes free voice calls feature, but this is only available as beta for now.

Developers plan to officially release the update to all BlackBerry users later on. Aside from brining free voice calls, the update is also said to address some performance issues for BlackBerry OS 5, and adds some improvements to various features.

Free voice calling on both Wi-Fi and 3G networks will be available for all BlackBerry devices powered by OS 5 and OS 7. Stay tuned for more info on the matter.

UPDATE: Viber has just provided a download link for those who wish to try out the beta version offering voice calls.
