Viber users rejoice as developers have just announced the release of a major update that brings lots of new features to the application. One of the most important changes seems to be the addition of Android tablet support, but lots of other new features are similarly important.

“This is the most exciting release we’ve had for Viber since we launched the platform. Today’s updated version brings a vast new range of features and functionality to Viber.

“Viber has always aimed to provide a complete communications experience. With the new features we’ve brought to the platform, Viber lets users connect and stay connected in more ways than ever,” said Talmon Marco, CEO of Viber.

The Viber Sticker Market that has just been introduced in the latest version is the first step of monetization feature that developers made available to Viber users.

The Stiker Market will have exclusive content “tied into timely events and holidays throughout the year and will be regularly updated with new content to make messaging relevant and more personal.”

Another major feature added is Push To Talk support, which allows Viber users to communicate by using short voice messages. The following changes and enhancements have been included in this update as well:

- Message forwarding to any group or contact; - Choose new conversation backgrounds from a custom background gallery; - Group conversations with up to 100 participants.

All the features above should be available on all platforms, but the Android version got a bit more improvements, developers confirm. Aside from bringing support for Android tablets, Viber devs have announced that the following enhancements are now integrated within the application:

- Improved notifications for Android 4.0 and up; - Light Up Screen setting for incoming messages; - Use Viber messaging while on a Viber call.

You can now download Viber for Android 4.0 for free via Softpedia. Keep in mind that the application should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 2.2 and up.
