Three maps for veteran players

Electronic Arts has announced that it is creating a Veteran Map Pack for its Army of Two videogame. The map pack is set to arrive on May 29, on both the Microsoft Xbox 360 and the Sony PlayStation 3. In what is a surprising move for the console map pack market, the new offering for Army of Two is set to be free of charge on both consoles. Pontiac, of all companies, seems to be offering sponsorship for it.

There will be three new maps coming to gamers on May 29. The first one will be for co-op mode and will feature one subway station in Kiev where a dangerous military group has set up its headquarters. The characters from Army of Two have to take out the headquarters and kill all enemies they come across. The second map is also co-op mode designed and will set the stage for a final showdown between Salem and Rios, the macho gun wielders of the game, and their ex-boss, a guy named Dalton, who also framed them at the beginning of Army of Two.

There's also a new multiplayer map in the pack, called China Canal Lock, a map that emphasizes team play and coordination. Look out for some destructible environments on these maps.

Army of Two was released earlier this year and it didn't really impress reviewers. This might be one of the reasons that made developers put on a map pack this early after the release of the game. And it might even justify the fact that the Veteran Map Pack is set to be free.

It's not clear how the sponsorship from Pontiac will influence the gaming experience. We might see a lot more Pontiac cars in the new maps or maybe a Pontiac commercial here or there. Keep an eye out for it when you get the map pack.
