VeriSign will collaborate with ICANN and with the entire Internet community for the development of the .net domain and for improving its stability.

The decision according to which VeriSign is to maintain control of this domain was a foreseen event considering the acknowledgments received in March for the way in which it handled the administration of the .net domain.

For this activity, VeriSign generates an annual income of approximately $26 mln. The .com domain falls also within VeriSign's responsibility.

At the beginning of the year, Telcordia Technologies Inc., an independent company from New Jersey analyzed the auction offers of five companies that were competing for the right to administer the .net domain. VeriSign was the elected company, its main advantages over the competitors being the previous experience and the bidden value.
