Ever wondered just how green is a green computer system? Well, in fact it is not even green, it's more like silver, but the newest addition from the small computer manufacturing company Very PC was tested and it came on the top of the most environment friendly computers as it has an energy footprint of only 29W.

While not being a top gaming machine, this new desktop computer system from Very PC comes with all the features required from a typical home or office intended system and its hardware make up is not something to throw away either. Built using the tried and true barebone design pattern, the Bonsai is measuring only 202(w) x 97(h) x 273(d) mm and on the hardware specifications department it looks like the perfect tool for a home theater PC.

Its green attributes are derived from the fact that it takes only around 62 watts under full load working conditions, while needing a mere 26 watts when idle and averaging at a more than reasonable 30 watts. On the hardware side, the Very PC's Bonsai desktop system is powered by an Advanced Micro Devices central processing unit Athlon X2 BE 2350, which means that it has more than enough processing power for the average home and office user thanks to its dual core architecture and high running frequency of 2.1GHz.

Like almost all barebone computer systems, this one too comes with an integrated graphics card solution, this time based on the ATI X700 graphics processing unit that offers native support for HDMI. Other important hardware specifications include the presence of a 120GB low power Serial ATA compatible hard disk drive, a DVDRW burner optical drive and one gigabyte worth of DDR2 random access memory.

While shipped in its most basic configuration and with Windows XP Media Center Edition included, the Very PC Bonsai system will cost around 520 pounds and users have numerous upgrade options like the 2GB DDR2, a 250GB hard disk drive and a slot-loading DVD burner unit. Even as the Bonsai is using only a fraction of the power normally required by a desktop computer system, Very PC is announcing that the final product which will start shipping in December will have an even smaller energy footprint as it will be cooled by a passive solution.
