Mobile phone users in India can now purchase Vertu’s Android-based Vertu TI Luxury handset in the country, as it has become available for them.

The handset was designed with the rich people in mind, as it sports a price tag of INR 649,990 ($11,825 / €9,123), making it by no means an affordable smartphone.

For those out of the loop, we should mention that the device arrives on shelves with a Grade 5 titanium body, and that it also packs a scratchproof sapphire crystal screen, as well as Bang & Olufsen stereo speakers.

The Vertu TI was made official with a 1.7GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor packed inside, as well as with a 3.7-inch touchscreen display.

Furthermore, the mobile phone sports 64GB of storage, along with an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, and a 1.3MP front camera, great for making video calls while on the go.

Vertu TI packs a GPS receiver, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, NFC, 3.5mm audio socket, and a battery capable of delivering up to 7 hours and 20 minutes of talk time, or up to 200 hours of standby time.

The smartphone was launched with Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system loaded on top.

Additionally, the device sports a variety of pre-loaded applications from Google, including Google Mobile Services such as Play store, Gmail, Chrome, Google+, Maps, Navigation, Street View, Play Music, Google Drive cloud storage, and YouTube.

Other features of the device include: Browser, Calculator, Calendar, Camera, Clock, Downloads, Email, Gallery, Messaging, Movie Studio, People, Phone, Settings, and Voice Dialer.

“Vertu will never be at the bleeding edge of technology. It has to be about relevant technology and craftsmanship – it’s not a disposable product,” Hutch Hutchison, Vertu’s head of design said, according to AndroidOS.

Users in India interested in the purchase of this smartphone should visit the Vertu Boutique in DLF Emoporio Mall, New Delhi to learn more on it.
