Here’s something to bring a smile on your face and hope in your heart: people still do good deeds. Rob Thomas, the creator of “Veronica Mars,” started a Kickstarter campaign to make the “Veronica Mars” movie and, in less than 10 hours, he got his wish.

A big screen spinoff of the successful series has been on fans’ wishlist for years but, as Thomas explains, Warner Bros. never thought there’d be too much interest in it.

Well, they’ve just been proven wrong. Thomas asked fans to donate so that they could raise a minimum of $2 million (€1.54 million) to make the movie on the smallest budget possible – and in less than 10 hours, fans had already donated that amount.

The campaign is still standing because Thomas says the more money they raise, the cooler the movie.

Warner Bros. has already agreed to handle production and distribution if they can get the money for the rest, while the members of cast have promised to work cheap.

Officially production begins this summer, and the film will be out in early 2014.
