Motorola's DROID Bionic, the first Android-based mobile phone the handset vendor should bring to the market with support for 4G LTE networks, is expected to make an appearance on shelves at Verizon Wireless in one month's time, some of the latest reports on the matter suggest.

Initially set to land on shelves in spring, the handset was delayed as Motorola decided to perform a series of changes to its design.

A few months ago, the leading handset vendor announced that it would bring the phone to the market later in summer with the said changes into the mix, but has not offered a specific release date for it until now.

However, a recently leaked screen shot shows that the wireless services provider might be set to make the new device available for purchase on August 4th.

At the same time, the said screen shot (available courtesy of Android Central) shows that Verizon might bring the Motorola DROID 3 to the market on July 14th, in line with what some other rumors on the matter claimed.

This suggests that August 4th might indeed be the release day for DROID Bionic, although nothing is officially confirmed on the matter.

The smartphone was unveiled to the world in January during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, and should land on shelves with Google's Android operating system on board.

In addition to the said 4G LTE connectivity options, the DROID Bionic would also include a fast application processor, most probably a dual-core one, as well as enough RAM to ensure increased performance capabilities.

The handset has received the necessary approvals from the FCC only a few days ago with support for the wireless carrier's CDMA network, as well as with WiFi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity capabilities.

Motorola was not specific on the changes it planned for the smartphone, but more info on the matter will certainly emerge as the release date approaches, so keep an eye on this space to learn additional details on this.
