Sony initially announced that the phone would be released only via its Store

Last week, Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile officially confirmed the upcoming availability of its Xperia Z2 flagship handset on shelves in the United States, though it announced that the phone would be available only via its own stores in the country, and that no carrier would release it.

As it turns out, however, chances are that the device will actually be released at Verizon Wireless too, at least this is what a photo with it published online today reveals.

The image, spotted on Sony Xperia’s Google+ account, clearly shows the Verizon logo at the top of the screen, with the Sony symbol placed beneath it. Those who had the chance to see the device before should already know that the vendor’s logo is usually present at the top of the handset.

Chances are that Sony’s Xperia Z2 will make it in the United States via wireless carriers too after the initial rollout via Sony Store, despite the lack of specific details on the matter.

However, there is also the possibility that the photo was published by mistake, and that the smartphone will never arrive on Verizon’s network, as Android Central notes.

Hopefully, it won’t be long before Sony shares some more details on the matter, so stay tuned to learn the news.
