Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless announced recently the addition of a new channel to its V CAST Mobile TV offering, namely TLC. The new channel, as many of you might already know, is part of Discovery Communications, and will bring shows like “Cake Boss;” “What Not to Wear;” “Little People, Big World” and “18 Kids and Counting” to V CAST Mobile TV customers, the wireless services provider announced.

“TLC, a top 10 cable network for women and one of the most widely distributed cable networks in the United States, features high-quality docu-series and reality-based programming that engages the heart and mind by transporting viewers into the lives of real-life extraordinary characters. TLC programs are entertaining, unfiltered and always reveal something to learn along the way,” Verizon also noted.

The V CAST Mobile TV service from Verizon comes to users with a wide range of programming, including live sporting events, news and entertainment shows. The new TLC channel has been added to a lineup that also includes ABC Mobile, CBS, CNBC, COMEDY CENTRAL, Disney Channel, ESPN MobileTV, FOX Mobile, MSNBC, MTV, NBC and Nickelodeon. The service is delivered directly to the user's mobile phone, and it also offers parents the possibility to manage the programs seen by their children on handsets.

Big Red also noted that V CAST Mobile TV was powered by the FLO TV live mobile TV service from FLO TV Incorporated, which is a subsidiary of Qualcomm. The service is based on a technology that delivers programming in a linear format over the company's own network, which means that Verizon offers the V CAST Mobile TV service to its users without affecting its voice network.

“Verizon Wireless recently launched the HTC Imagio, the company’s first smartphone to support V CAST Mobile TV. Customers with the HTC Imagio and a V CAST Mobile TV subscription can watch news, sports and entertainment from popular programmers come to life on its extra-large 3.6” color display. V CAST Mobile TV is available for a monthly access package of $13 for Limited or $15 for Basic,” the company also stated. Additional details on the availability and pricing of V CAST Mobile TV from Verizon Wireless can be found on the carrier's website.
