The range of 4G LTE-capable devices available for Verizon Wireless customers should expand starting with March 31st, as soon as the company makes the Verizon USB551L modem made by Novatel Wireless available for purchase.

Starting with that day, the new device would go on sale via all of the company's Verizon Wireless Communications Stores around the country, as well as online on its website.

The new device is capable of offering businesses and consumers access to download speeds of 5 to 12 Mbps, Verizon announced, adding that the device would also provide them with upload speeds of 2 to 5 Mbps.

Just as a reminder, these speeds would be available only in the areas where 4G LTE Mobile Broadband coverage is available. It would connect to Verizon's 3G network as well, but with lower speeds.

The Verizon USB551L comes as a high performing 4G LTE USB modem that also sports a compact design, as well as industry-leading flexibility, convenience and reliability.

The USB551L modem was meant to offer users the possibility to easily connect to check email, download rich multimedia content, or keep in touch with their family, friends and coworkers. It would connect to Verizon's 3G network as well.

Some of the main features of the new device would include:

- Compact and lightweight USB modem with advanced proprietary antenna technologies to maximize data throughput and operating range - Supports Windows XP 32-bit, Vista 32/64-bit (SP2) and Windows 7 32/64-bit, MAC: 10.4 or higher

The new Verizon USB551L modem will arrive with a price tag of $99.99 upon the signing of two-year customer agreement on a 4G Mobile Broadband plan and after a $50 mail-in rebate.

For $50 monthly access, 4G LTE Mobile Broadband users would receive 5GB of monthly data.

“4G LTE Mobile Broadband plans begin at $50 monthly access for 5GB. Customers will receive the rebate in the form of a debit card; upon receipt, customers may use the card as cash anywhere debit cards are accepted,” the carrier notes.
