Palm Pre 2, the first handset that HP brought to the market last year with the new webOS 2.0 platform on board, is expected to make an appearance on the airwaves of mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless, and has just got listed on Walmart website. The mobile phone was spotted not too long ago at Best Buy too, although no specific info on when it would be released on the market emerged for the time being.

When announcing the device officially in October last year, HP stated that it would be released on Verizon's network in the coming months, and no updated launch date was provided.

However, the fact that it emerged at Walmart only a few days after being spotted at Best Buy would only suggest that the device is set to make an official appearance on shelves in the near future.

The webOS 2.0 platform is not the only new feature this mobile phone comes to the market with, although it sports a similar design with the older Palm Pre device.

HP Palm packed it with a 1 GHz application processor, as well as with 512 MB of DRAM and 16 GB of internal storage, as well as with a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back.

The same as its predecessor, the new handset has a sliding design, with a 3.1 inches touchscreen display that boasts a 320 x 480 pixels (HVGA) resolution complemented by a vertical sliding QWERTY keyboard.

The specifications list of the new mobile phone also includes a 3.5mm headphone jack, as well as support for 3G connectivity, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, Wi-Fi, and A-GPS.

Walmart lists the handset as offering VZW Navigator, Exchange ActiveSync, IM, Internet browsing, and more. Additional info can be found here (via pocketnow).

“The Palm Pre 2 smartphone has been reengineered to do more of what you want to do—faster. Quickly switch between multiple open apps,” the retailer notes.

“Simply start typing to begin an email or update your status. Tap a message notification while you’re playing a 3D game. With HP webOS 2.0, accomplishing more is effortless.”
