Nexus One by HTC, the high-end smartphone being sold exclusively via Google's web store, the first device to land on the market with the Android 2.1 operating system on board, is rumored to become available for purchase with Verizon Wireless connectivity packed inside as soon as next week, after being briefly listed on Google's site as put on sale. Nexus One was already known to soon come in CDMA flavors too, and Sprint also announced officially that the handset would land on its airwaves, but so far no specific release date has been unveiled officially.

Rumors on the near availability of the Verizon-bound Nexus One emerged recently as well, and the new one might not pan out in the end, but there are also great chances that Big Red's customers will be able to acquire the Nexus One and enjoy its features on their carrier's airwaves as soon as next week. Moreover, it seems that, in case they plan on getting the new device on contract, they will have to pay only $199 for it, the same as users on T-Mobile or AT&T do.

The Nexus One has been launched on the US market in early January, with support for T-Mobile's airwaves, and with the option to get it either free of contract or with a 2-year agreement with the carrier. Google announced at that time that Verizon Wireless would carry the device as well, in the first half of the ongoing year, and it seems that we're getting closer to that moment, especially since Google started selling AT&T-bound models not too long ago, and Canadian users can also enjoy the Nexus One on their carrier's networks.

The handset comes with a large touchscreen display, a 1GHz Snapdragon processor inside, great connectivity options and a wide range of features, being set to offer an enhanced Google experience to users via various services and applications from the Internet giant. The one thing that it lacks, and which makes it a little less appealing, is the HTC Sense solution available on its twin brother, the HTC Desire.
