Motorola and Verizon are preparing for the launch of a new device in the popular DROID series, one that would arrive as the successor of the thin DROID RAZR handset.

Supposedly called DROID RAZR HD, the smartphone is expected to feature a 1196 × 720 display, along with a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor (and a Qualcomm Adreno 225 GPU), while being capable of connecting to Verizon’s 4G LTE network.

No official word on the existence of this handset has emerged so far, but a listing on the Nenamark benchmarking site is meant to confirm its upcoming release.

The new device will arrive on shelves with Google’s Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system on board, and with Motorola’s own UI on top of it.

No info on when the new mobile phone would arrive on shelves has been unveiled, but details on the matter should become official soon, so stay tuned to learn the news.
