The new BlackBerry Torch 9850 smartphone, that Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion unveiled to the world only a few weeks ago, is on its way to Verizon Wireless too, it seems.

The wireless carrier did not make an official announcement on the matter, but the handset was already spotted into the wild in a leaked document from the company.

The guys over at CrackBerry stumbled upon a promo posted from Verizon Wireless which clearly shows that the wireless carrier is gearing up for the release of this new device.

Other operators in the United States already announced their plans to make the new BlackBerry Torch 9850 smartphone available for their customers, and Verizon too might make the move in the near future.

For the time being, no specific info on when that might happen emerged, but we should expect for Big Red to announce the new touch-enabled BlackBerry handset sooner rather than later, it seems.

This month, RIM announced a number of no less than four new BlackBerry handsets, but Verizon unveiled plans to carry only one of them, the Bold 9930.

Sprint, the other large CDMA carrier in the United States, already released the Bold 9930 and the new Torch smartphone, and Verizon seems set to follow suit.

Moreover, some suggest that the wireless carrier might adopt the same pricing as Sprint did for its new BlackBerry devices. Bold 9930 went out for $199 at Sprint, and the 9850 was priced at $150 on-contract.

The BlackBerry Torch 9850 comes with a large 3.7-inch touchscreen display, a powerful 1.2GHz application processor inside, and a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with support for HD video recording.

The mobile phone also sports WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, microSD memory card slot for expanding the available internal memory, and the new BlackBerry 7 OS on top, to provide users with appealing new features and capabilities.
