One day before Verizon's iPhone 4 becomes generally available for customers in retail stores, the popular smartphone is available for orders and reserves online at both carrier and phone manufacturer.

Along with Best Buy, Verizon and Apple will make the CDMA iPhone 4 available through their online stores and retail locations on February 10th.

Even though Verizon and Apple said they had set aside a certain quantity of iPhone 4 units for existing Verizon customers to pre-order with free delivery on or before February 10th, it seems that the demand was unprecedented and the stock was sold out the same day customers were able to pre-order the device.

The number of the units pre-ordered Wednesday is unknown, but initial interest appeared to be quite high, as many customers reported difficulties in accessing Verizon’s website.

According to AppleInsider, it seems that the carrier instructed employees not to order the device for themselves or their families expecting an incredibly high demand.

Starting today, February 9th, any customer, Verizon subscriber or not, will be able to order the iPhone 4. However, it seems the shipping date has been pushed back to February 18th from the initially mentioned February 10th.

Customers looking for a more practical approach can reserve their Verizon iPhone 4 online, also starting today. Still, they will be able to pick up their reserved iPhone 4 device from the nearest Apple Retail Store only the next day.

As soon as “the phone that changed everything” is generally available, it will put an end to AT&T's dominance over the iPhone, which was the sole carrier appointed by Apple to distribute its flagship smartphone in the US for almost 4 years.

Verizon iPhone 4 will be generally available from Best Buy, Apple and Verizon retail stores and online from $199 for the 16GB model or from $299 for the 32GB model.
