Boingo Wireless, a worldwide leading service provider in the Wi-Fi industry, and mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless announced on Monday the renewal of their Platform Services agreement. According to the duo, the deal between them has been extended for an additional four years. Furthermore, they also announced that the new contract was designed as a master agreement, and that Verizon would be able to extend
the services that it used to offer to Verizon Business to other business units as well.

Verizon is one of our longest-standing platform services partners, and the renewal and expansion of this agreement is further validation of our turnkey offering,” said Dave Hagan, president and CEO of Boingo Wireless. “This renewal extends our six-year relationship into a decade-long partnership.” The company has already settled network access agreements with a number of 165 Wi-Fi network operators in 96 countries, with more than 120,000 individual hotspots available.

Boingo, as many of you might already know, is the largest operator of neutral host airport hotspots in the world. The company accounts for the management of Wi-Fi networks in around 60 airports in the United States, Canada and the UK. At the same time, the company is also considered the industry’s leading hotspot aggregator. Boingo offers its networks to partners via its Platform Services offering, while also having its retail Wi-Fi offerings available around the world via thousands of hotspots.

The Boingo Platform Services was established in 2003 and comes as an offering for mobile operators, wireline telcos, cable companies and ISPs that would like to have the opportunity to deliver Wi-Fi Internet access to their customers around the world. Users will access the Wi-Fi hotspot location network under the carrier's brand. Some of the company's customers are Alltel, BT Infonet, EarthLink, Fiberlink, Nextel, Orange France, Skype, Sprint, Telecom Italia, Telefonica, Verizon and Wireless G.
